CSTEP has been chosen as the only non-government organisation in an Expert Committee to evolve a strategy for self-reliance in critical strategic resource of Rare Earths, constituted by NITI Aayog.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) requested CSTEP to organise a Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on July 21-22, 2015 to discuss the interim results of MNRE's Reassessment of India's Wind Potential Estimation study and how to increase the penetration of wind energy to meet the government's 60 GW target.
On July 3, 2015 CSTEP signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BESCOM (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company) and KREDL (Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd) to pursue high impact research projects in the area of Renewable Energy, to further its uptake at the state and national levels.
The FOWIND Consortium is organising an event on June 16, 2015 to release two reports on pre-feasability studies conducted for offshore wind development in India, and sign an MoU with the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Centre for Study of Science Technology and Policy (CSTEP) is working on a Climate Policy study that will analyse the synergies and trade-offs between strategies for sustainable development and low carbon growth, and assess their implications for costs, energy trajectories, and GHG emissions, as a co-benefit of sustainable development.
